Lack of sleep during the night can cause drowsiness in the next day, because your body don’t rest enough. But don’t let your lack of sleep hinder your motivation to have physical activities, like sport, jogging, etc. According to one study, lack of sleep at the night will not affect much on your running performance.
Dutch scientist analyse running ability from 10 men for 20 minutes. They measure the performance in two conditions, not sleep and have enough sleep a night before.
The results from those two conditions, all participants can reach the same mileage, on average 7,62 km. And physiological measurement such as heart beat, not so different.
According to the scientist, underestimate perception due to lack of sleep result in low confidence to do hard physical activities, such as running. But result from this test showed that lack of sleep did not affect to physical activities performance.
In other word, lack of sleep make people not confidence enough to run, but once they try, they will gather confidence again, and can do this activity normally.
This might be good news for athletes or runner that get insomnia due to nervous facing the match next day. Self-confidence is the key. Study in Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences in Liverpool before, showed that athlete which do not have enough sleep, still have stable body immune. Oxygen intake and muscle performance are not impacted by sleep time (kompas)
